Baked Apples

Baked Apples


Serves 4


Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened apple juice
  • 1/3 cup dry white wine
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange zest
  • 4 medium baking apples
  • Cinnamon, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon ground walnuts


Equipment:

  • Small saucepan
  • Apple corer
  • Peeler
  • 8-inch square baking pan


Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Pour apple juice, wine, water, and orange zest in a saucepan. Stir slightly then simmer for 10 minutes.

Core and peel the skin from the top half of each apple.

Set apples upright in baking pan.

Pour 2/3 cup of sauce around apples, reserve 1/3 cup. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

Bake for about 20 minutes until the apples are cooked.

Top each apple with 1 tablespoon of sauce, and sprinkle with walnuts.
